Ocu is a small town in the province of Herrera. Because of the slightly higher geographical position, the climate in Ocu is a few degrees

cooler than in the provincial capital of Chitre. Ocu is more of a village than a city, and lives mainly on the revenue during carnival. Besides Chitre and Las Tablas, Ocu is one of the most popular places among the locals to spend their week during carnival. In Ocu, unlike Las Tablas and Chitre, the carnival festivities are a bit more calm and relaxed. Obviously there are also the typical ceremonial parades and the hotly contested competition for the title of the beauty queen.
