Panamanian Embassy (Germany)

The republic of Panama is represented by an embassy of its own in Germany. Since April 2012 Mr. S.E. Juan Ramon Porras De La

Guardia has been the extraordinary and authorised ambassador of Panama in Germany, having his premises in Berlin, Wichmannstraße 6. A general consulate of Panama has been established in Hamburg, Gänsemarkt 44 . The consular district comprises the states Hamburg, Bremen, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. An honorary consulate in Erzhausen is responsible for the states Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saarland, while an honorary consulate in Kiel represents Panama’s interests in the states Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. Bavaria is the only state with an honorary consulate of the republic of Panama which has taken over the responsibility for just one state. This extraordinary high number of representative offices of such a fairly small country reveals that Panama considers the relations to the Federal Republic of Germany to be very important and gives them top priority. This importance is also proven by the various mutual diplomatic and business visits between Panama and Germany during the year 2012. The Panama Canal-administration, the foreign secretary as well as the president – all these three representatives of Panama participated in consultations in Germany between May and October 2012.
